ABOUT ME: My name is Christopher Cawley, and I am the owner and operator of North Whiteville Skywatch. I first started recording weather observations in the mid 1990s while living in the tiny community of Laurens, New York, a town approximately 20 miles southwest of Cooperstown, New York (home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum). For about 10 years I reported regularly as a "skywatcher" to WKTV-2, an NBC affiliate in Utica, New York. In 2005, my wife and I moved to North Whiteville, North Carolina, in search of warmer weather, and to make a "change" in life. I have been reporting weather conditions here since January 2006, currently reporting to WECT-6, NBC affiliate in Wilmington, North Carolina. Data from my weather station also uploads to the Citizens Weather Observer Program, Mesowest, WUnderground, and the National Weather Service. I also send monthly reports to the Atlantic Coast Observer Network, and keep detailed files and reports on this website. I am a trained SkyWarn storm spotter and amateur radio operator KK4CSR, and as part of my hobby, enjoy digital photography of storms, while spotting. I am currently on a journey towards obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology while working full-time in another line of work.
This entire website is mine; I am not a representative of, nor am I being compensated by any entity or organization mentioned on this website. I am doing this voluntarily, and in my own free time. I also maintain a Facebook page, "North Whiteville Skywatch."
I wish to give special thanks to Meteorologists Rich Lupia, Robb Ellis, Colin Hackman, Eric Davis, Josh Weiss, and Tim Armstrong. Of course thanks also go out to my wife, Christine, for allowing me to pursue my hobby (obsession), and to my son, Nathan William.
I hope you find this site useful and enjoyable. THANK YOU for visiting and supporting North Whiteville Skywatch.
